(Lodestar: a guiding star)

Friends of the Earth is looking for talented and inspiring local group members in the SW who would like to share their skills with fellow activists throughout the region. Our vision for the SW is of an area that's maximising its potential for a sustainable future through a buzzing and vibrant hive of people learning, meeting and sharing their skills and experiences.

Do you, or anyone you know, have skills and experience in the following:

Profile raising skills in working with the media, interviews, press releases etc Teambuilding creating cohesive local groups that enjoy working together to achieve agreed aims:

Organising and carrying out effective direct actions
Recruiting and retaining new members to local groups
Lobbying powerful people
Networking and forging alliances with useful groups and organisations
Organising public meetings and effective public speaking Effective campaign planning
We're interested in a wide variety of skills and experience if you've something useful to share, let us know. Fundraising? Newsletter writing? Web design? Working with councils/LAs? Effective meetings? Etc. Etc.

Anyone wishing to become a Lodestar would be invited to a weekend's residential event, where professional trainers would give advice on how to effectively train and skillshare with others. Expenses would be paid and in return you'd be expected to take part in three skillsharing events over the following 12 months.
